Saturday, February 18, 10 AM The GSSOP (German Saturday School of Portland) will be holding a party on February 18th at 10am to celebrate ‘Fasching’. This is a Carnival festival which is celebrated in different ways according to local traditions. The celebration is known as ‘Karneval’ in the Rheinland area, ‘Fastnacht around the city of Mainz (fasting night, or eve of Lent, the period of fasting), ‘Fasnet’ in Swabia (south-west region of Germany and in the south-west of the state of Bavaria), ‘Fosnat’ in the Franken region (northern Bavaria) and ‘Fasching’ around the city of Munchen and in Austria.)

The German American Society welcomes members and their guests to pull up a seat at the traditional social gathering with others who like to speak German (or English) over a glass of Bier, Wein (or Wasser). The only agenda is having a good time. Bring some snacks to share. Until OLCC rules about selling alcohol are completely clarified, please bring beer or wine to share. Feel free to bring board games to enjoy with friends, old and new!
Beer Stein Collection
