The German American Society of Portland is an all-volunteer organization of people interested in celebrating the German heritage, life, culture and language. We celebrate German holidays and festivals, we gather socially at Stammtisch every third Friday of the month (except December). Annually we get together and celebrate with fun, music and customs at Fasching (Karnival) in February, an annual Membership Picnic in August, Oktoberfest in September and a Christmas festivities in December. Watch for year-long events like concerts, lectures, plays, kids programming, and all types of entertaining activities related to German culture.

Our quarterly General meetings begin with a light refreshments, business and the typical social gathering. We give scholarships for college to German language High School Seniors and support a Saturday Language Program for children and adults.

Consider joining us, sharing your interest in German Culture, life and helping us to be “all things German” in the greater Portland Metro area. Since we are an all-volunteer organization we look to our members to give 4 or more hours a year at our various events and festivals. We are very open to adding new events and with your help as the best ideas come from our Membership.
